Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate softball team hits the road this weekend to take on nationally-ranked Florida State in a doubleheader Thursday evening at 3 p.m. and opens A-Sun play Saturday and Sunday at Kennesaw State to finish out the spring break week.
Upstate stands 14-3 on the year following its 9-4 victory over North Carolina Tuesday night at Cyrill Stadium. The Spartans will face an ACC opponent for the second consecutive outing when it travels to play Florida State in Tallahassee Thursday. The Seminoles are ranked No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll and No. 10 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll. They claimed a 12-0 victory on the road at Florida Atlantic Tuesday to improve to 19-5 on the year. It will be the 14th and 15th games the Spartans have played against Top 25 competition since moving to Division I in 2008.
