Ryan Cornfield continues his upward climb in the Golfstat ranking and is ranked No. 142 among all Division I golfers in the ranking released Tuesday.
The latest ranking does not take into account Cornfield’s tie for ninth at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday. He finished the tournament 3-under-par, his 14th round under-par this season.
The Golfstat ranking is a key tool used by the NCAA Selection Committee for at-large individual invitations for players whose teams do not qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Last year, Cornfield narrowly missed out on a Regional appearance and was ranked in the 240’s.
Overall, Cornfield is ranked No. 168 in the Golfstat Cup, which ranks all college golfers in NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO. Cornfield ranks 28th in the country in par-3 scoring with a 3.03 average. More importantly for his NCAA Regional resume, he stands 4-4-1 head-to-head against players ranked in the Top 20 in Division I.
Cornfield, who was an all-conference selection last season, will join with Taylor White to lead Upstate into the A-Sun Championships next week on the Legends Course at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga.
