Funeral services for Anna Elizabeth Long, 20, of Clover, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Bethel Presbyterian Church (Highway 557, Clover, SC) with the Rev. John Gess officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Clover.
Anna, a junior nursing major at the University of South Carolina Upstate’s Mary Black School of Nursing, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 6, 2015 in Spartanburg.
Born Aug. 14, 1994 in Gastonia, N.C., Anna was the daughter of David and Peggy Whitesides Long. She was 2012 honor graduate of Clover High School and an outstanding senior band member.
Anna currently served as secretary of USC Upstate’s chapter of Gamma Beta Phi, an honor and service organization, and was its incoming vice-president. In addition, she was an active member of the Student Nursing Association and Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). Her ultimate goal was to work at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Andrew David Long of Clover; grandmother, Helga Long “OMA” of Clover, SC; aunts and uncles, Debbie Cook, and Sylvia and Scott Price; cousins, Merrick Price and Kragen Price; her boyfriend, Dylan Thomas; and roomates, Haley Carson, Lauren Jeffers and Rebecca Holmes.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Hobert Long, maternal grandparents, Dee & Margaret Whitsides and an uncle, Jack Whitesides.
