Macon, Ga. – USC Upstate women’s tennis senior Isabel von Stryk was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference first team and Nona Ruppert was tabbed to the All-Freshman Team, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
It’s the third year von Stryk has been tabbed all-conference and the second straight in which she was selected to the first team. She is also only the second player in school history to be named All-A-Sun first team in back-to-back years.
A native of Holm, Germany, von Stryk finished the regular season tied for first in the conference with 15 wins and featured a 4-2 mark in league play. She also turned in a nine-match winning streak midway through the season playing exclusively from the No. 1 position.
Her 15 singles victories are tied for the 10th-most in a single season in school history, and her 47 career wins rank ninth all-time at Upstate.
Von Stryk was also 10-7 in doubles play this season and went on a seven-match winning streak early in the year.
Ruppert emerged as one of Upstate’s top threats in her rookie season and turned in eight singles victories playing primarily from the No. 2 position, which ranked as the third-most wins at No. 2 in the conference. The Weiden, Bavaria, native also featured a 2-3 record in singles in conference play and ended the year with seven doubles wins.
Ruppert becomes the eighth Spartan in the last seven years to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
