The USC Upstate women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to ETSU Friday from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

The match was pushed up one hour and singles matches were played first due to a threat of thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

Melissa Esguerra gave ETSU a 1-0 lead when she turned in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sharlee Deshmukh at No. 5, and Ioanna Markesini put the Buccaneers ahead 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nina Roell at No. 4.

Jayde Viccars then defeated Sarah Vande Berg 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 to put ETSU ahead 3-0 before Lyn Yee Choo clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Isabel von Stryk.

Upstate returns to the court Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Spartans host Kennesaw State on Senior Day.
