USC Upstate Honors 15 Graduate Students with Hooding Ceremony

Each year, the University of South Carolina Upstate holds a ceremony to honor students who have successfully completed their master’s degree.

The hooding ceremony is held in addition to and does not replace the university commencement, which will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

This year’s ceremony recognized 15 students, including the first four students to receive a master’s degree program in informatics, during the ceremony held Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the JM Smith Board Room.

Candidates for degrees included:

Master of Education in Early Childhood Education: Jill St. John.

Master of Education in Elementary Education: Jocelyn Coleman, Melissa Dunning, Kia’ra Geter, Ashley Smith, Elizabeth Syracuse.

Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education: Visual Impairment: Mary Robbins and Karen Sipos.

Master of Education in Special Education: Visual Impairment: Tamara Brown, Cahit Sahin and Susan Mitchell.

Master of Science in Informatics: Information Resource Management: Marsha Jordan, William Lowder, Peter Rogers and Thomas Shovlin.
