V.E.L.C.R.O. Presents "Legally Blonde: The Musical," June 4-6

Don’t miss V.E.L.C.R.O.’s first musical this weekend!

V.E.L.C.R.O. (Very Elaborate Losers Creating Random Opportunities), an acting company comprised of students and directed by students, will present “Legally Blonde: The Musical” June 4-6 at the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Shows will be held at 8 p.m. June 4 and June 5 and at 3 p.m. June 6 in the Humanities and Performing Arts Center Theatre.

“Legally Blonde: The Musical,” tells the story of Delta Nu Sorority sister Elle Woods and her attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III, while also attending law school at Harvard. Elle surprises her peers and her professors as she defies expectations both inside the classroom and in the courtroom.

The show is directed by recent May graduates,  Taylor Smith and Megan Pridemore.

The cast includes Bailey Tyler, a recent graduate of Blue Ridge High School, as Elle Woods; Brandon Allan Gaunt of Greenville as Emmett Forest; Garrett Gibson, a theatre major at USC Upstate, as Warner Huntington III; Anna-Elyse Lewis, a USC Upstate alumna, as Paulette; Candice Bryant, a USC Upstate theatre major, as Margot; Jordyn Chelf, a senior at USC Upstate, as Serena; Jasmine Johnson, a recent graduate of USC Upstate, as Pilar; Jessie Lauren Cantrell, a student at Limestone College, as Vivienne Kensington; Stephanie Ibbotson, a rising senior at USC Upstate, as Enid Hoops; Jordan Smith, a senior at Blue Ridge High School, as Aaron Schulz/Dewey; Jemeshia Weber-Thompson, a nursing major at USC, as manager, Sundeep Padamadan/Judge; Joseph Butler, a theatre major from Landrum, as Winthrop, Nikos, Ensemble; Abby Laiewski, a junior at USC Upstate, as Kate/Ensemble; Anthony Gregory, a junior at USC Upstate, as Grandmaster Chad, Frat Boy, Kyle; Haley Arnold as Chutney; Paige Brown, a student at Spartanburg Community College, as sales girl. The ensemble includes: Bess Lawson, Kareem Johnson, Brigitte Staggs, Anisa Snipes and Nicole Duplay.
