Kenny Blackwood ’88 has been named the new superintendent in Spartanburg School District 3.
He will begin his new position on July 16.
Blackwood has worked in District 3 since 2007. Prior to his time with the district, he worked as a principal in both Districts 6 and 7. According to his resume, Blackwood was principal at Whitlock Jr. High School from 2001 to 2003, and at Jesse Bobo Elementary from 2003 to 2007.
He also previously worked as a teacher in Union County and District 7.
Since joining District 3, Blackwood has been the principal of Pacolet Elementary School and supervisory principal for Pacolet Elementary and the Middle School of Pacolet. In 2014, he was named director of the Daniel Morgan Technology Center, which serves students in Districts 3 and 7.
