USC Upstate head women’s basketball coach Tammy George has announced this afternoon that the Spartans will compete in 29 games for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign including 14 inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
George, who is entering her 13th year overall and 11th at Upstate, has assembled a competitive schedule that includes five teams who competed in postseason tournaments last season. North Carolina and Florida Gulf Coast participated in the NCAA Tournament while Michigan, Georgia Tech and Stetson took part in the WNIT Tournament. Overall, the Spartans have scheduled 15 non-conference games and 14 against teams from the A-Sun.
“I am very excited for the upcoming season,” said George. “We have a challenging non-conference schedule with some familiar opponents. We believe that it will prepare us for our conference schedule.”
Upstate kicks off the season during the second weekend of November with a pair of road contests at Norfolk State (Nov. 13) and Maryland Eastern-Shore (Nov. 15). Upstate starts conference play with its first three games away from Spartanburg as the following week it travels to Florida Gulf Coast (Jan. 16) and Stetson (Jan. 18). The month closes out with two home games against Jacksonville (Jan. 23) and North Florida (Jan. 25) before traveling to Lipscomb (Jan. 30).
