This production grounds the action of the play in a time and place where war has raged forever. This is a society once driven by technology, but has since returned to a more primordial existence devoid of electricity and other luxuries due to a constant state of war. Othello, the noble and mighty general, offers an end to the chaos that has plagued this world; however Iago, his lowly ancient who desires revenge strives to find a way to dash the hope that Othello provides and stoke the fire of chaos.
The cast includes: Chauncey Meeks-Owens of Spartanburg as Othello, Harley Bevill of Greenville as Desdemona, Antonio Swagler of Spartanburg as Brabantio;, Alistair Mann of Spartanburg as Iago, Candice Bryant of Greenville as Emilia, Chris Smith of Goose Creek as Cassio, Andrea Azumendi of Lancaster as Duke of Venice; Garrett Gibson of Inman as Lodovico, Howie Jordan of Greenville as Gratiano, Brandon Mimnaugh of Boiling Springs and Brooke Mize of Greenville as Venetian senators, Doug Yates of Orangeburg as Montano; Jordyn Chelf of Duluth, Minn., as Bianca; Colin Miller of Inman as Clown.
