Coming off a record-breaking performance at Presbyterian last Saturday night, the USC Upstate men’s soccer team returns to action when it plays host to VMI Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at County University Soccer Stadium. It marks the first match of a three-game home stand for the Spartans.
Upstate and freshman forward Gordon Wild made history against PC Saturday. The Spartans scored a Division I era school record seven goals in the 7-0 blanking of the Blue Hose. It marked the most goals scored in the program since scoring eight against USC Aiken in the first round of the Peach Belt Tournament in 2004. Wild scored four goals in the game and became the first Spartan to have scored four goals in a game since 2004 when Gary Lynch found the back of the net four times in a 7-1 victory over Union early in the season.
