After spending the last three weeks on the road, the USC Upstate volleyball team returns home Tuesday evening to host the Wofford Terriers at 6:30 p.m. in its final non-conference match of the season.
Attendance to the match is free and the first 100 USC Upstate students in attendance will receive a free slice of pizza.
Upstate currently holds an 11-4 record after splitting four matches last weekend at the Billiken Invitational in St. Louis, Mo. The Spartans earned a pair of victories during the first day over UT Martin and Arkansas-Pine Bluff before falling to North Dakota and Saint Louis on Saturday. Emily Koelling earned her third straight All-Tournament Team honor.
Upstate ranks in the top 10 nationally in aces per set, digs, digs per set, total attacks, attacks per set and service aces. The Spartans lead the nation in attacks per set with 40.93. Madison Haake is second in the nation in triple-doubles and eighth in service aces. Upstate currently leads the A-Sun in kills, assists, service aces and digs, while Haake ranks first in the league in service aces.
Wofford comes into the matchup with an even 7-7 record under first-year head coach Lynze Roos. Alex Holland leads the Terriers with 132 kills on the season with Molly Mayo adding a team-high 514 assists. Jessica Graham is one of four players with over 100 digs and leads the team with 209. Danni Densford boasts a team-leading 42 total blocks.
The Spartans lead the all-time series over Wofford 29-10 dating back to the 1981 season, including a 14-6 mark when playing at the Hodge Center. Upstate rallied from two sets down last season to defeat the Terriers 3-2 at Wofford as part of The Spartanburg Courtyard Classic.
