Women's Soccer: Spartans Return Home this Weekend to Host Conference Foes Jacksonville, North Florida
After spending nearly a month on the road, the USC Upstate women’s soccer team returns to County University Soccer Stadium for the first time in six games this weekend as it takes on Jacksonville and North Florida in a pair of A-Sun contests.
Upstate begins the weekend Friday evening at 7 p.m. against Jacksonville and closes out Sunday at 1 p.m. versus North Florida.
The Spartans concluded their six-game road trip this past weekend at Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. Ellen Bright fell just one save shy of tying her career-high after finishing the Florida Gulf Coast game with 11, equaling her season-best total. In the contest at Stetson, Brooke Bailey, making the second start of her career, grabbed a career-high seven saves.
Bright continues to lead the conference with 95 saves this season and is fourth with a .798 save percentage. Nationally, she ranks seventh in total saves and 17th in saves per game. Kate Winegarner has recorded a team-high four goals and 10 points to sit tied for seventh in the league in both categories. Kenzie Major is tied for fourth in assists with a team-leading three.
Jacksonville enters the weekend with a 3-7-2 overall record and 1-2-1 mark in A-Sun play. North Florida sits at 4-9-0 on the season and is 2-2-0 against league opponents. Upstate trails 7-1-0 in the all-time series to Jacksonville and 11-4-1 against North Florida.
