The University of South Carolina Upstate welcomes Rick Darke to campus during the 12th Annual Arbor Day celebration on Friday, December 4, 2015.
Darke is a landscape design consultant, author, lecturer, and photographer based in Pennsylvania. He is the author of “The Encyclopedia of Grasses for Livable Landscapes,” “The American Woodland Garden,” and “In Harmony with Nature.”
Darke has become one of the leading voices in sustainability, blending art, ecology, and cultural geography in the creation and conservation of livable landscapes.
Learn how to create living landscapes at your home during two special presentations:
- 10 a.m. – The Essential Layers of Living Landscapes — Humanities and Performing Arts Center Theater, USC Upstate.
- 11:30 a.m. – Designing and Maintaining Living Landscapes – Sansbury Campus Life Center, buffet lunch.
Luncheon tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.uscupstate.edu/arborday.
Gunter Gardens will hold a plant sale beginning at 1 p.m. under a tent located in the Sansbury Campus Life Center Circle Lot. Many of the plant materials mentioned in Mr. Darke’s presentations will be available at the sale.
