Katie Hodge, wife of the late Dr. G. B. Hodge, who was instrumental in the founding of the University of South Carolina Upstate, passed away on Saturday, November 28 after a brief illness. The Hodges will always be remembered for their commitment to the Spartanburg Community and the institutions and programs they helped build. Katie Hodge’s desire to help others was evident through her volunteer work with many area arts, education and healthcare organizations, including USC Upstate. Katie was an emeritus board member of the USC Upstate Foundation and longtime supporter of the University. In addition to her degrees from James Madison University and Duke University, Katie was awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service from USC Upstate in 2002.
