The USC Upstate women’s basketball team begins a two-game road trip on Monday, traveling to Morehead State for a noon start.
Upstate enters the contest at 5-5 following a 75-63 loss to Furman in the Hodge Center on Saturday. Brittany Starling posted a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Raven Jefferson scored a team-leading 15 points while Travonda Haddock and Kristen Dickerson each scored 13 points. DeNisha Swain had a career-high five assists.
Brittany Starling leads the Atlantic Sun in offensive rebounds as well as total rebounds and ranks second in blocks and field goals. She is third in the conference in scoring and free throws. Travonda Haddock is second in the league in blocks following three blocks during Saturday’s game. Brittany Clency is third in the conference in free throws.
As a team, Upstate leads the A-Sun in rebounds, offensive rebounds, free throws made, free throw attempts, field goal attempts and blocks. The Spartans are second in the league in blocks and field goals while ranked third in scoring and free throws.
Morehead State is 4-6 following a 102-69 loss at Southern Illinois on Saturday. The Eagles have victories over Kentucky Christian, Georgia State, Mount St. Joseph and Lipscomb. Morehead State is 2-1 this season in Ellis T. Johnson Arena.
Monday’s game is the second all-time between the schools. In the initial meeting on Dec. 14, 2014, Upstate claimed a 75-69 victory in the Hodge Center.
