USC Upstate senior center Brittany Starling has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, conference officials announced today. It is Starling’s third weekly award of the 2015-16 season and fifth of her career.
Starling finished with a pair of double-doubles as the Spartans earned victories over Mars Hill (81-65) and Western Carolina (68-59) last week while averaging 21.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game. She had a game-high 25 points with 14 rebounds against Mars Hill and 18 points with 16 rebounds against Western Carolina. Her 25-point output against the Lions was her third-highest of the season. Starling has had a double-double in her last six games and has nine double-doubles this season which places her in a tie for fifth place among NCAA Division I players.
Upstate opens Atlantic Sun play at NJIT on Saturday at 1 p.m.
