Ponte Vedra, Fla. – The USC Upstate men’s golf team currently sits in 15th place following the first two rounds of the Sea Best Invitational after shooting a two-round score of 608 on Monday from Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
Matt Carter highlighted the first day for Upstate with a hole in one on the par 3, 203 yard 14th hole during the day’s second round. According to the freshman, it was his third career ace, second in tournament play and his first as a collegiate player. Carter used a 5-iron and his approach landed 25 feet short of the hole, eventually rolling its way into the cup. He is the first Spartan since Nate Irvin at the 2010 Palmas Del Mar Collegiate Classic to record a hole in one.
