Macon, Ga. – USC Upstate senior center Brittany Starling has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week by both the Atlantic Sun Conference and College Sports Madness, it was announced today.
Starling earns the A-Sun weekly honor for the fourth time this season and sixth of her career after averaging 19.0 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game as the Spartans went 2-0 with home victories over Kennesaw State and Lipscomb. On Saturday, Starling became Upstate’s all-time rebounds leader as she pulled down 11 boards for a career total of 992, breaking Yakeeshia Ross’ record of 991. In Thursday’s 66-57 victory over Kennesaw State, Starling scored a game-high 24 points with 11 rebounds and added new career-highs with five assists and five steals.
Starling has 43 career double-figure rebounding games and 37 career double-doubles. Nationally, Starling is fifth with 284 rebounds, tied for fifth with 15 double-doubles and seventh with 12.3 rebounds per game.
The Spartans travel to Kennesaw State on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
