Macon, Ga. – USC Upstate senior Cody Brittain has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon. Brittain earns the weekly honor for the first time this season and the first time in his Upstate career.
The White Hall, Md. native hit .533 with eight hits in 15 at-bats and seven runs scored in three games with multiple hits in each contest. During Upstate’s 14-1 victory over The Citadel on Tuesday, Brittain went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI while finishing a home run short of the cycle. He hit three triples last week, including two against The Citadel, to take over the league lead with four triples. Brittain joined several Spartans that hold the school record with two triples in a game.
Brittain joins Jordan Ford (A-Sun Co-Player of the Week, Feb. 22) and Tyler Jackson (A-Sun Co-Pitcher of the Week, March 14) as weekly award winners this season.
Upstate travels to UNC Asheville tomorrow before a Wednesday evening game at Gardner-Webb.
