The USC Upstate softball team continues to garner votes in two Division I polls heading into the sixth week of the 2016 season, it was announced today by both publications.

Upstate garnered 26 votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll and nine in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Spartans are within striking distance of being ranked in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and enter the week one spot outside the top 25, with their 26 votes being the highest among unranked teams.

Upstate went 6-1 last week as part of a seven-game road trip in the state of Florida including four wins during the Under Armour Showcase hosted by South Florida. The team registered wins over Green Bay, New Mexico State, UMass Lowell, Central Michigan and Army.

The Spartans open A-Sun play this weekend, Mar. 19-20, with a three-game series at Lipscomb.
