Upstate Women's Basketball Game Wednesday, March 23

The Upstate women’s basketball team will play Wednesday, March 23 in the WBI Semifinal.

The USC Upstate women’s basketball team will make its first trip to Utah on Wednesday as the Spartans face Weber State in the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) Tournament on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 9 p.m. Eastern Time/7 p.m. Mountain Time inside the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.

The Spartans have won their first two games in the WBI in dramatic fashion. Brittany Starling scored the game-winning basket with five seconds remaining as Upstate claimed its first postseason win with at the Division I level last Thursday with a 71-69 triumph at Northern Kentucky. On Saturday, after Western Illinois tied the game 71-71 with 2:17 to play, Starling and fellow senior Brittany Clency scored the final 10 points for the Spartans in an 81-78 victory at the Hodge Center.

Starling has recorded a double-double in both games, while Dickerson and Haddock have finished in double-figures in each contest.

Weber State is 22-11 and advanced to the semifinal round thanks to a 76-74 win at North Dakota on Sunday evening. The Wildcats are in their sixth season under the direction of Bethann Ord. Weber State posted a 12-7 record in the Big Sky Conference, which put them in sixth place.

The winner of the USC Upstate/Weber State game will face the winner of the Youngstown State/Louisiana-Lafayette matchup in the WBI Championship this weekend.
