USC Upstate sophomore first baseman Karla Beasley was recognized this afternoon by the publication College Sports Madness as its A-Sun Softball Player of the Week following her performance last weekend as the Spartans picked up a three-game sweep at home over Jacksonville.
For the week, Beasley hit .333 (5-for-15) as Upstate went 4-1 including a midweek victory at Western Carolina. The sophomore drove in six runs over the course of four games, while scoring four runs and hitting three homers. Beasley also collected 15 total bases and contributed a 1.000 slugging percentage and .375 on-base percentage.
She posted three home runs in the doubleheader sweep of Jacksonville on April 9, with two in game one and hit the walk off game-winner during game two. Beasley had six RBI in the doubleheader and finished 5-for-8 at the plate and scored four runs.
