Women’s Tennis Hosts Elon in Home Finale

The USC Upstate women’s tennis team will play their final home match of the 2016 regular season on Thursday as the Spartans welcome Elon to the USC Upstate Tennis Complex for a 2 p.m. contest.

Upstate is 0-19 overall and 0-5 in the Atlantic Sun following a 6-1 home loss to Kennesaw State on Sunday. Carol Sigaki won the lone match of the day for Upstate as she defeated Isabela Castro 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at number four singles. Anna Zoske, who was honored as part of Senior Day festivities, and Filippa Ericson won the number one doubles match 6-4 over Cristina Martin and Alexandra Mercado.

Elon is 11-9 following a 4-3 win over East Carolina on Friday. The Phoenix have won six straight and nine of their last 10 matches. Elon leads the all-time series 4-0 and has won all three matches during the Division I era, including a 6-1 victory at Elon in 2015.

Upstate concludes the regular season on Saturday, traveling to NJIT for a 2 p.m. match.
