USC Upstate women’s soccer head coach Tyson John has hired Allie Johns as an assistant coach, it was announced today.
“I am very thankful for the opportunity to be involved in the game I love and to be a part of a great community! I am excited to use my experience and connections in the region to help the program grow and succeed.”
Johns joins the Upstate staff after three years as the Media and Communications Coordinator for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and several seasons coaching all ages and levels in the Greenville area and for the SC Olympic Development Program. Johns is also the Director of the Girls Academy at Easley Soccer Club.
Johns played at Newberry College as well as Southern Wesleyan, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication in 2012 and was a NCCAA Scholar-Athlete. She was president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at both schools and completed an internship in the Southern Wesleyan athletic department as well as the Southern States Athletic Conference.
Following her collegiate career, Johns was a member of the Carolina Elite Cobras of the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
“I am very excited about adding Allie to the Spartan family!” John said. “She is a highly decorated player from Southern Wesleyan, and is or has been involved in every soccer outlet that South Carolina has to offer. On top of that, her passion for the game and ability to bring the best out of people was what stood out about her the most! I know that she will be a great addition to help grow our program!”
