Congratulations to Monique Jones, a faculty member in the Mary Black School of Nursing, who has been named a 2016-17 Jonas Scholarship.

Jones currently is attending the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga., and is working on her Ph.D. in nursing. She has been an instructor at USC Upstate in 2012. She continues to pursue her doctoral degree while also teaching full time.

Jones is the third student at Mercer to receive the scholarship and only one of 425 students in the country.

The Jonas Family Fund was established in 2006 to advance the nursing profession through grants and programs.  The purpose of this program is to increase the  number of doctorally-prepared faculty available to teach in nursing schools nationwide. The funds from the Jonas Foundation are matched by the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing and are provided as part of a total scholarship package.
