Montana Swanson Tabbed ASUN Freshman of the Week

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate freshman outside hitter Montana Swanson has been named the ASUN Freshman of the Week following her performance last week in four matches for the Spartans, it was announced this afternoon by the conference office.

Swanson tallied two double-doubles last week for Upstate as it posted a 2-2 record with wins over Charlotte and Fairleigh Dickinson. The Charleston, S.C. native combined for 60 digs, 33 kills, four assists, four service aces and two blocks after playing in all 18 sets. Swanson averaged 3.33 digs and 1.83 kills per set.

She began the week with a double-double in the Spartans 3-2 comeback victory over Charlotte on 11 kills and a career-high 24 digs. Swanson then tied her career-high of 13 kills at Mercer to go with 15 digs. For Swanson, she is second on the team this season with six double-doubles, and ranks third in both kills and digs. Swanson also sits fourth in service aces.

This is the first ASUN Freshman of the Week honor for Swanson in her career.
