The University of South Carolina Upstate will remember student-athlete Mills Sproull during a dedication ceremony at the County University Soccer Stadium Saturday, Sept. 10, just before kickoff of the Spartan men’s soccer game against Gardner-Webb.
A bench will be dedicated at 6 p.m. in memory of the 20-year-old Birmingham, Ala., native who died October 11, 2015 following a car accident that claimed the lives of three other USC Upstate students and left one student injured.
At 6:50 p.m., the University will debut its new scoreboard named for Sproull that was made possible by a gift from an anonymous donor and a friend of the Sproull family.
Sproull is survived by his parents, Joy Martin and Horace Miller Sproull, III; siblings, Wimberly Sproull, Sparks Sproull and Holly Sproull, all of Birmingham; maternal grandparents Joan and Jack Martin of Florence, Ala.; aunts and uncles, Jim Sproull, Hunt Sproull, Barbara Snow, Eva Andrews, Jay Martin and Jill Lunsford; and many cousins.
The men’s soccer game will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
