Spartans Begin Fall Season this Weekend Hosting USC Upstate Fall Classic

The USC Upstate men’s tennis team ushers in its 2016 fall season this weekend when the Spartans host the USC Upstate Fall Classic from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

Competition begins Friday at 12:00 p.m. and will feature, along with Upstate, regional foes UNC Asheville, Armstrong Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian College and Liberty.

Ankush Arora and newcomer Fernando Bernardes are scheduled to compete in the Green Doubles draw Friday at 12:00 p.m. and will face Brandon Mills and Diego Manzanas of Presbyterian College. Ignacio Garrido and newcomer Francisco Neto will also compete in the Green Doubles bracket, and are set to face the winner of Joel Roberts/Ben Kelley (Presbyterian College) and Andrew Sinai and Majed Yousif (UNC Asheville) at 12:45 p.m. The combination of Matt Bennion and Felix Ewers will also start at 12:00 p.m. on Friday in the Black Doubles draw against Michael Perry and Johan Fors of Gardner-Webb.

In singles action, Ewers will participate in the Black Singles draw and battle Elias Svensson (Presbyterian College) in the first round, while Bernardes is slated to face Perry in the opening match. Neto is paired against Max Borcuti of Liberty.

Garrido is matched up with the winner of Fors and Bjorn Kutze (Armstrong Atlantic) in the opening round of the Green Singles bracket, while Bennion is scheduled to take on Chase Burton of Liberty. Arora will play Luca Cerin of Armstrong Atlantic.
