The USC Upstate women’s golf team will close out the fall portion of its schedule this week when it remains in town to play in the Terrier Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford at the par 72, 6012-yard Country Club of Spartanburg.
The Terrier Intercollegiate is a 36-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Monday will feature 18 holes of competition with tee times beginning at 10 a.m. Teams will also play 18 holes Tuesday with a 10 a.m. start.
Upstate is one of 10 teams competing in the event along with Appalachian State, Converse, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Presbyterian College, UNC Asheville, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford.
The Spartans will be sending out a five-player lineup this week consisting of Pan Paksanont, Payton Culler, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Sidney Dermody and Caroline Heustess. A total of three players are also competing as individuals in Allea Hawkins, Marley DeFreitas and Allie Gennaula.
Paksanont recorded the first top-10 finish of her career last week at the Jacksonville Classic to lead Upstate individually. The freshman finished in a tie for ninth place after shooting a 221 (73-74-74), and ranked in the top ten for par 4 scoring, par 5 scoring and pars. As a team, the Spartans compiled a 13th place performance with a combined score of 925 (315-304-306).
