LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate women’s soccer player Rachel Baylor was recognized by the ASUN Conference on Tuesday as part of its 2016 Fall Winners for Life Team, the league office announced.
The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the eight institutions in the conference and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Baylor, a senior Spanish major from Greensboro, N.C., owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.794. She was named the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s soccer in 2015, becoming the first Spartan to earn the award. She has scored seven goals in 49 career starts for Upstate and was voted a team captain.
Baylor has been an active member of Upstate’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) organization since 2014, serving as Vice President the past two years.
