USC Upstate Alumnus to Lead South Carolina National Guard’s Efforts at Inauguration

More than 1 million people expected to attend the presidential inauguration Jan. 20 and more than 7,500 National Guard soldiers, including a group from South Carolina will be there to help with security.

Leading the troops from South Carolina will be USC Upstate alumnus Michael Meissner ’11.

Meissner, the mayor of Pacolet, will be in charge of about 30 soldiers and airmen from all over South Carolina participating in the ceremony.
