LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate goalie CJ Cluck was recognized by the ASUN Conference on Monday afternoon for his performance last week against the N.C. State Wolfpack by being selected the Defensive Player of the Week.

The junior transfer from Greer, S.C. earned his first career ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award after a stellar performance in goal on Oct. 10 in Upstate’s contest at N.C. State. The Spartans battled the Wolfpack to a 0-0 draw in Raleigh, N.C. for their first shutout of the season. Cluck also collected his first career shutout at Upstate after finishing with a season-high seven saves. He recorded four of his seven saves during the two overtime periods.

Cluck is the first Spartan to garner ASUN Defensive Player of the Week accolades since former Upstate men’s soccer players Tucker Beerman (Oct. 27) and Jack Rubin (Nov. 3) earned back-to-back honors in 2014.
