The Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday, Nov. 17, will premier “French Press,” a work by Dr. Nolan Stolz, music professor at the University of South Carolina Upstate.

The concert will be at the Chapman Cultural Center; doors open at 5:30 p.m. for drinks and appetizers, and the performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. The concert is part of the SPO’s “Espresso” chamber music series, and all pieces in the program have a connection to France, especially Paris.

Stolz’s called his work, Reflet/Réflexions, a “reflection” of Stravinsky’s Octet for Winds, which will close the program. The concert will also feature works by Debussy, Satie and other French composers.

Tickets are $26 and are available through the CCC box office.
