Black History Month Lunch and Learn

Monday, Feb. 26

“James Baldwin in Paris: Engaging with the World and Social Justice” by Dr. Araceli Hernandez-Laroche

  • 12 p.m. in the Sansbury Campus Life Center, Quiet Room
  • Join USC Upstate professors as they share research related to the African-American experience.
  • Lunch is provided for the first 25 people!

Paint The Dream (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration) *RESCHEDULED DATE*

Tuesday, Feb. 27

  • Class One: 4– 5:30 p.m.; Class Two: 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Sansbury Campus Life Center Ballroom
  • Description: Join the Office of Student Life – Multicultural Programs for a canvas painting class featuring art inspired by Dr. King. Learn more about the artist, their work, and King’s contribution to the Civil Rights Movement. At the end of the class, you will have a completed painted canvas to take to home with you. No skill is required! This event is free to all USC Upstate students. An $18 entry fee is required for faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community. Black Heritage Day

Wednesday, Feb. 28

  • 6-9 p.m. in the University Great Room and Atrium
    Join the Black Student Leaders and the Office of Student Life – Multicultural Programs in a celebration of African-American culture that includes a keynote speaker, dancing, history, live music, and food! Admission is FREE for USC Upstate students, with $3 for faculty, staff, and persons not affiliated with USC Upstate.
