Cecchetti Named ASUN Softball Player of the Week

USC Upstate junior catcher Elisa Cecchetti has been named the ASUN Softball Player of the Week following her performance on offense last weekend during five games at the Upstate Classic, it was announced this afternoon by the conference office.

Cecchetti compiled a .533 batting average (8-of-15) with one home run and six RBI as USC Upstate earned wins over Fairfield, Colgate and East Tennessee State. She tallied 11 total bases over the weekend and posted a .733 slugging percentage and .563 on-base percentage. Cecchetti had at least one hit in all five games including two multi-hit performances.

She hit her first career home run as a Spartan in an 8-0 win over Fairfield and followed the next day driving in the game-winning runs with her two-RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the sixth during a comeback win against Colgate. Cecchetti combined for five RBI over her final two games of the weekend highlighted by a career-high three RBI in a 4-0 win against East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon.

On defense, she recorded 31 putouts, five assists and had a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Cecchetti receives the ASUN Softball Player of the Week honor for the first time in her career.
