USC Upstate women’s basketball coach Tammy George has announced the signing of Barrett Herring to a National Letter of Intent for the 2018-19 season.

“We are excited to welcome Barrett to our basketball family,” George said. “We think she will be a great fit for our program. She comes from a winning program and has a great work ethic.”

Herring is a 6-3 center from Birmingham, Ala. She attended Spain Park HS where she was a three-year letterwinner and averaged three blocks per game while completing her career as the school’s single season blocks leader with 90.

While playing for the Jaguars and head coach Mike Chase, Herring was a member of a 2017 Alabama 7A regional championship team and state runner-up. In 2018, Herring and Spain Park defended their regional title and ended the season as the 7A state champions.

In addition to playing scholastically for Spain Park, Herring also played for the Alabama Heat Elite AAU team.
