A communication consultant and expert blogger from Alabama will guest lecture a Web design class at the University of South Carolina Upstate without leaving home. Wade Kwon, known as Birmingham’s Best Blogger, will deliver a lecture to Adriana Ahner’s Web design class on Monday, February 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Health Education Complex 2039. The campus community is welcome to attend this session.

This interactive lecture will take place via Skype, a popular video conferencing program. Kwon will discuss the best content for blog and Web sites and how students can create them quickly and efficiently.

“I always enjoy working with students, and this is the first time I’ve ever done it through an online-only format,” Kwon said, who is an award-winning blogger and instructor at the Birmingham Blogging Academy.

Before becoming a full-time blogger, Kwon spent nearly a decade at the Birmingham Post-Herald and 2½ years at Southern Living. His blogs can be found at and

This is the second time that Adjunct Instructor Ahner is able to provide someone of Kwon’s professional renown to her classroom, using the latest in Web technology. “My students hearing a lecture from Wade Kwon and getting to interact with him validates everything I have said to them in the classroom. This opportunity will enable my students to fully understand the repercussions of posting unsubstantiated information to the Web.”
