Freshman Convocation with Bertice Berry, Ph.D. Scheduled for Sept. 7

This year’s University Freshman Convocation event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the USC Upstate Hodge Arena. The keynote speaker for this year’s convocation will be nationally known speaker, Dr. Bertice Berry. For those of you who may remember, Dr. Berry visited our campus two years ago and received a standing ovation. Freshmen students: This event is mandatory!

Sociologist, and award winning lecturer Bertice Berry, Ph.D., is one of the most sought after lecturers in the country. Bertice Berry combines her skills as a sociologist and researcher, and with her ability to make her audiences think and laugh at the same time. Bertice Berry is the bestselling author of the inspirational memoir, I’m On My Way, But Your Foot Is On My Head, four novels and two humor books.

As we celebrate the introduction of a new class of students into our community of scholars, faculty should wear full academic regalia. The Administration Lobby will be open and available for faculty preparation. Faculty will assemble no later than 9:45am in the Lobby area. We will process promptly at 10:00am and the program will conclude within 60 minutes to allow you to plan for the remainder of your morning.

Freshman Convocation is a wonderful event to begin our academic year! You’ll laugh, you’ll feel, you’ll be inspired, and one thing is for certain— you’ll leave much differently than you came.
