Engaging Millennial Learners: 21st Century Teaching for 21st Century Learners

The Center for Teaching Excellence invites the campus community, and faculty from neighboring institutions, to attend the 21st Century Teaching for 21st Century Learners series, part four regarding communication and collaboration. On April 11, 2012, keynote speaker, Dr. Christy Price, professor of psychology at Dalton state College in Dalton, Ga., will deliver a presentation on “Engaging Millennial Learners” in the Health Education Complex Room 2039.

During the participatory session, participants will review literature regarding the culture of the Millennial student and apply the findings of Dr. Price’s research regarding Millennial student culture.

Also presenting will be Tasha Thomas, instructor of freshman composition on “Encouraging Collaboration and Building Effective Communication Skills Through Digital Technologies”; Carol Tesh, program director for health information management, on “Communication and Collaboration in Health Information Management”; and Monika Shehi, director of English composition, on “Decoding the language of Academia: Helping first year students communicate effectively with an academic audience.”
