The University of South Carolina Upstate’s Shoestring Players will perform an encore of their London performance of “Almost, Maine,” a John Cariani production, in the Performing Arts Center Theatre on the campus of the University of South Carolina Upstate. Curtain times are August 23 – 25 at 8 p.m., and August 26 at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $4.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

The talented student cast includes Leah James, Ashley McFadden, Anna–Elyse Lewis, Joelle Gwinn, Chris Smith, Ryan Barry, Patric Phillips, Chandler Crawford. Students Will Luther and Nick Whitworth designed the production. Lee Neibert, assistant professor of theatre at USC Upstate, will direct the production. The cast, crew and director traveled to London in July to perform this play as part of the International Youth Arts Festival in Kingston, England.
