Dr. Andrew Myers, associate professor of history at USC Upstate, will present “Yankee Soldiers in the South Carolina Upcountry during the Civil War and Reconstruction” on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the first floor conference room of Carlos Moseley Building at Chapman Cultural Center.  Myers is working on a book about this subject, which is an expansion of a chapter about the Seventh Cavalry from 1871 to 1873 that he is contributing to an essay collection being edited by Paul Grady and Melissa Walker. He will focus on their impact on Spartanburg County using copies of primary documents from the National Archives – ledgers and post returns from Spartanburg.
