Business Blitz Week Begins at The George

The University of South Carolina Upstate’s George Dean Johnson College of Business and Economics will host its Second Annual Business Blitz Week Oct. 7 -10.

The annual event is designed to promote engagement among students, faculty, the downtown community and upstate business leaders.

The week of activities includes:

Monday, Oct. 7

Noon – 1p.m. ScanSource, Inc., invites students to enjoy pizza drinks and giveaways in the Plaza. Human resources representatives from the company will be on site for a meet and greet with students about internship opportunities.

5:30 – 7 p.m.: Dinner with Deans — Dr. Frank Rudisill and Dr. Elnora Stuart, along with Hannah Terpack, freshman advisor, invite residential and commuter students for dinner in the private dining room of the cafeteria.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

9:15 – 11:15 a.m.: Dr. Frank Rudisill will participate in a panel discussion about, “What Every Employer Should Know About Hiring Employees,” at the Spartanburg Public Library. Other participants on the panel include representatives from SCORE, SBDA and SERN.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. : Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served on the plaza near the Milliken fountain. Dr. Charley Harrington and Dirk Schlingman will perform classic rock music. In case of inclement weather, the festivities will be held inside The George.

12:15 – 1 p.m.: Kelly Scheib, director of Organization Development at Hubbell Lighting will discuss internships and other opportunities at Hubbell in Room 150 of The George. USC Upstate alum Renata Caldwell, as well as current student interns Trey Moore and Rachael Kalchbrenner will be available to answer questions.

5 – 6:30 p.m. : JCBE Scholarship Reception will be held in the Johnson Gallery.

Thursday, Oct. 10

11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served outside in the plaza near Milliken fountain. Music will be provided by Dr. Charley Harrington and Dirk Schlingman.

5 – 6:30 p.m.: The Iron Yard Final Pitch Event at Chapman Cultural Center. RSVP required for JCBE students and faculty by 10/4:
