The United States Tennis Association (USTA) visited the University of South Carolina Upstate on Friday, Oct. 4 to offer a free three-hour workshop for Physical Education Teacher Education Majors.

More than 25 students participated in the hands-on workshop. Students learned classroom management techniques, progressions for teaching tennis, how to teach tennis with limited space, and many other teaching techniques related to tennis.

The USTA  gave each student a free program with all of the activities and games taught during the session. They also gave away door prizes including a Tennis Skilastics game that is valued at $225. The USTA also generously donated 30 racquets, 48 high-density foam balls, and a pop-up indoor tennis net to the PETE program. This will help the PETE program continue to teach tennis in years to come, as well as to open up opportunities  for offering tennis programs to local schools on campus.
