Call for Participation in 10th Annual Research Symposium

The 10th annual SC Upstate Research Symposium is scheduled for April 18, 2014 on the USC Upstate Campus.

Currently, the symposium is searching for students and faculty members to participate in this year’s symposium.

Students majoring in art, graphics design or a related field are invited to submit a cover design that will be used for the 2014 Printing Proceedings.

Here are the requirements and restrictions:

  • A single PDF file with a design for the front cover must be emailed to the symposium chair ( by the Monday, February 10, 2014 deadline. No late submissions will be accepted.
  • The cover will be printed in full color; its size will be a standard 8.5 x 11 inches.
  • No university/college names/logos and no sponsor information should be anywhere in the design. The official symposium logo should be integrated in the design. Ask the Symposium Chair to email you the logo.
  • The winner will be revealed on the day of the event when the Printed Proceedings are handed out and the winner will receive an award during the student award ceremony. Runner-ups will also be on display at the event.

Faculty and students from invited Upstate South Carolina area colleges and universities can submit a short research, scholarly or creative paper (2-3 pages). Faculty members who have not involved students in their current research efforts are welcomed to submit, however, students submitting papers to this Symposium must be working with a faculty mentor.

Research, scholarly and creative papers from all disciplines are welcomed and can report on completed projects or work in progress. Papers that speak only to forthcoming or intended work are not permitted. Papers will be accepted as regular presentations or posters. Contributing authors can indicate their preference, but may be asked by the Program Committee to change their preference so that the talks can be better grouped into specialized sessions. All accepted papers (presentations and posters) will be printed in the Symposium Proceedings. Contributions similar to work that has been or will be presented or published elsewhere are encouraged, however, the author should also verify with the other conference/journal that this is acceptable.
