Walk Upstate Begins Jan. 13, 2014

January 13, 2014 at 9:59 am

You can participate in the sixth annual Walk Upstate program.

The 15-week event sponsored by USC Upstate serves as a means of improving the health of employees through physical activity.  The goal of the program is to motivate employees to walk at least one mile a day or a minimum of 100 miles in 15 weeks. Other forms of cardiovascular (aerobic) exercise are encouraged: 20 minutes of aerobic exercise is the equivalent of one mile (you will receive a mileage conversion sheet).  Upon completion of the program, we will get together to enjoy a nice meal.

Individuals, participating on teams with a designated team captain, form and name their own teams. The team captain will fill out the Team Registration Form and the Individual Registration Forms and send to Lauren Greene no later than Jan. 22.

The Weekly Team Mileage Form will be used by the captain to track team miles. Team mileage is reported to Lauren on Wednesday of each week. The first week’s mileage will be due on Jan. 22  (We are late starting the program this year so we will be taking that in consideration with due dates and deadlines.)

If you are interested in participating, but need help forming a team, or if you have any questions, please contact Lauren Greene at extension 5924 or email lgreene@uscupstate.edu.
