Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to Dolores Anderson During 47th Founders' Day Celebration

Dodie AndersonDolores “Dodie” Anderson ʼ81 was presented the G.B. Hodge, M.D. Lifetime Achievement Award during the 47th annual Founders’ Day Celebration at USC Upstate Thursday.

The award is the highest recognition The Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education can grant and is designed to recognize a lifetime of history altering influence on the shape, character and destiny of the University of South Carolina Upstate.

In 2010, Anderson provided the University with a $4 million gift to renovate the G.B. Hodge Center, where all of the basketball and volleyball games are played. The $4 million gift to USC Upstate marks the largest single gift to the Athletics Department in University history.

Anderson received the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education Founders’ Day Award in 1986 and was inducted into the University’s Honor Fraternity in May 2005. She is a former member of the USC Upstate Foundation Board of Directors. In 2006, on the 25th anniversary of her graduation from USC Upstate, Anderson was bestowed the Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award. She is the former owner of Anderson Hardwood Floors in Clinton and Walterboro, S.C., the largest privately owned hardwood floor manufacturer in the United States. In addition to supporting USC Upstate, Anderson is a loyal supporter of USC Gamecock football, the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., and the Greenville Humane Society.
