World War I History Comes to Life with Artifacts from the War

The letter’s postmark is Feb. 28, 1919, Bordeaux.

Dear Mamma,” Boyce McGinnis, an American soldier, wrote from France to home in Matthews, N.C. The letter is written in pencil on American Red Cross stationery.

“We are all still well,” McGinnis wrote. “Not doing much, just wanting to go home but don’t know when that will be.”
