Four Upstate Students Present at UNC Asheville's Queer Studies Conference

Four students from the University of South Carolina Upstate presented at UNC Asheville’s Queer Studies Conference held April 2-4 in Asheville, N.C.

Kate Bollinger, Monique Gardner, Brooke Henry, and Heather Dykes, all Women’s and Gender Studies minors, presented papers analyzing media culture from the perspective of feminist and queer theory. The students received traveling funding through the Center for Undergraduate Research & Scholarship.

The UNC Asheville Queer Studies Conference, a biennial event established in 1998, attracts an international audience of activists, academics, and artists who showcase a range of creative and scholarly pursuits related to the investigation of genders and sexualities.
