Capitalizing on the Science of Learning Workshop Set for Wednesday, February 17

Looking for new ways to help your students learn? Check out this workshop coming in spring 2016 sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

“Capitalizing on the Science of Learning: Tips and Tricks for Success,” will beheld from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 in the Sansbury Campus Life Ballroom.

The science of learning, cognitive psychology, and scholarship of teaching and learning provide many answers. During the first 90 minutes, Dr. Gurung will summarize a wide range of pedagogical research and provide participants with practical tips and tricks to help them motivate students to learn. The next session will be devoted to roundtable discussions on doing research on teaching and learning for better assessment followed by individual consults for interested faculty.

Dr. Gurung is professor of Human Development and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. He has published numerous articles in a variety of scholarly journals, is co-author/co-editor of 12 books, recipient of numerous local, state, and national grants for his health psychological and social psychological research, and has presented and facilitated national and international workshops.

Dr. Gurung is co-editor of APA’s journal titled Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology. His main areas of interest are: Pedagogical Psychology; Sexism, Impression Formation, and Clothing; and Health.
